Jessi Wright, left (co-owner with Alan Read) of Big Smiles toy store in Smithers)recently donated two boxes of building blocks to the children of the Child Focus Africa Dormitory for special needs children in Migwani, Kenya. Judy Senka, Child FocusAfrica Treasurer is on the right.  These blocks will go to Migwani in august with some trekkers on their way to climb Mt. Klimanjaro with Adventure Africa.  The blocks will be particularly valued since the children have virtually no toys.

Thanks to the Rotary Club of Smithers in January, '13 we received the wonderful news from Sister Clare and Madam Esther Kasina that the rainwater collection system has been installed on Dormitory 2. This will make a huge difference in the lives of the children who live there.  In May '13 we received word that the tanks were full and the water going to good use.

10,000 Villages Fundraiser

These photos are of the Child Focus Africa booth from a recent fundraiser organized by Anne-Marie Finley of Smithers. At the booth we had the opportunity to talk to many people about our project in Migwani, as well as to sell some of the things we (The Senkas, and the Kilimanjaro expedition folks) had purchased at the Masai Market in Kenya.  Thanks to Judy Senka, Dian Cromer, Mandi Storey, Sean Sharpe and Irene and  Len Vanderstar for their work at the booth...    Jim Senka

Thanks to a donation from the Smithers Anglican church, we recently sent funds to our Migwani Office for the purchase of 3 goats for the (HIV-Aids) Kweetala Na Watwayo group in addition to funds for tools to make bricks for a building for the Mutulu (single mothers) group.  Click the image below for the letter of thanks received May 31, 2013.
